With a reputation as a leader in the industry, Todd has used his
skills and experience to increase standards and practices throughout
the commercial whitewater industry. Working as the Evacuation Coordinator
for USA Raft and Appalachian Wildwater, he worked to improve the
emergency response plans for companies on some of the nation's most
popular rivers. In this role, he worked closely with both the Park
Service and these two companies to re-design their evacuation plans
on West Virginia's New and Gauley Rivers. Hiking, paddling, and
mapping miles of river and evacuation trails, Todd designed and
implemented an evacuation plan that is still used as the corner
stone for emergency response by whitewater companies and the Park
Service in West Virginia.
He has also worked as an educator for the California based Headwaters
Institute, an organization dedicated to training whitewater guides
in environmental concerns and natural history knowledge surrounding
their particular river communities. Traveling with the Headwaters
Institute throughout river communities in California and Colorado
while facilitating two-day seminars for river guides, Todd used
his educational experience from NOLS to deliver classes designed
to develop guides' abilities to communicate their new found knowledge
with their rafting guests.
Todd is also a certified Leave No Trace educator. In this role,
Todd has been committed to inspiring others to follow the principles
of minimal impact wilderness travel as laid out by the Leave No
Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics.
Todd brings his skills, experience, and passion to Wet Planet, as
