Talia (Monster) Norman is a relative newcomer to the Wet Planet Staff. She moved to the area for wine, and discovered the need to work with another type of liquid - white water. |

Born on a pig farm in the heart of Iowa, the most whitewater Talia saw growing up was in her grandparent's hot tub. Through her teens Talia's mind began to blossom, and she moved to Australia in search of adventure, excitement and an education - in that order. Here, she experienced her first white water voyage on the Tully River; she fell in love. However, white water would not become a part of her life for another four years. |

After finishing her education, Talia moved to New York City where she immediately landed a job as Events Coordinator for The Princeton Club of New York. The glamour and glitz of New York both fascinated and overwhelmed her, and she made every minute count. She even picked up a second job as head fashion model for Rashmani Design. Soon however, she began to feel more overwhelmed than fascinated, and packed her bags for a place that offered the same thrill of NYC, but with taller people. |

Holland proved to be a perfect fit for Talia, who picked up Dutch quickly. Unfortunately, visas only last so long, and soon it was time for her to move on. She chose Belgium, where her sister and two children were living. When her sister's family was transferred to Germany, Talia made the move with them. There, on the Bavarian/ Franconian border, she studied the art of growing wine grapes with one of the best vintners around, Riener MoBlien. |

Upon return to the USA, she moved to the Northwest to begin working with one of her favorite grapes, Pinot Noir. Driving east for a wine tasting, her truck broke down and she found herself in Hood River. She made a last minute booking with Wet Planet, and it rekindled her short lived romance with the water. Since that day, she began not only learning to guide rafts, but also learning to white water kayak. Recently, she paddled rivers in Laos and Thailand. Now, often she can be found running the White Salmon with fellow guide, Dave Hammond; they are due to wed in August. |
