Tobias Johansson

Tobias Johansson was born and raised in Sweden. He has been passionate about water sports for as long as he can remember. He started snorkeling, scuba diving and playing underwater rugby at an early age.

After high school Tobias went through leadership training in the Swedish military and became a Platoon leader for the Swedish rangers with 40 men under his command. During his time in the military Tobias got introduced to the sport of kayaking during a trip to Norway and immediately fell in love with it.

After earning a Masters in acoustical engineering from Chalmers University, Tobias moved to the U.S. full time to work as a lead raft guide and support boater on the Chattooga, Nantahala, Ocoee and Pigeon rivers in the southeast. He owns his own business where he designs and builds restaurants and is part owner of Noni's, an Italian bar and deli in Atlanta. Tobias is highly skilled in management and has extensive customer service training; he is also trained in advanced Wilderness First Aid, CPR and whitewater rescue.

Working in the whitewater industry has always been Tobias' passion.  During a trip down the Grand Canyon in 2009 he decided to move away from the stresses and humidity of Atlanta and move to the west coast to become part of team Wet Planet. A new addition in 2010 Tobias works as a raft guide during the day and bar manager at night. In his time off, Tobias and his side kick Jackie (a happy Labrador) enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. In the off season you can find him in Park City enjoying the snow.

What another great international addition to Team Wet Planet!
