Guest Testimonials

...I recently traveled from California to take your White Salmon 1/2 day trip. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for the experience we had rafting with Wet Planet, particularly our trip (and personal raft) guide, Lance. This satisfied customer wants to say "thank you." I know it's your job, but I also know by the professionalism Lance demonstrated that you all love your job, and that passion shines through to your rafters, making the whole experience amazing. In my case particularly, Lance (without realizing it, I'm sure) gave me back something I thought I lost: passion for the experience. This trip helped me find the adventurous part of me that I thought [I had lost]...Lance got that...he was patient and understanding, while encouraging. And I am certain that kind of treatment is part of who Wet Planet is as a company, and greatly appreciated by all who visit.

Lance Reif

Lance Reif has been a part of the Wet Planet Team since the Spring of 2008, when he made the move from West Virginia to Washington. He showed up at the base and bugged us enough that we decided to keep him around. We think we made a great decision! He's now a core component of the Wet Planet team. One of our trip leaders, a class V guide on our Wind and Farmlands trips, and a kayak instructor, Lance does it all.

Lance first started kayaking at the age of 18 in West Virginia. Shortly after, he began guiding for Songer Whitewater in West Virginia on classic rivers such as the New and Gauley. He has now been guiding for 6 years, is a certified wilderness first responder, and a Rescue3 Whitewater Rescue Technician.

Not only is Lance's raft guiding experience impressive, his kayaking skills are also not to be ignored. Lance has kayaked in 3 countries: the US, Mexico, and Ecuador. He's also been kayaking in 11 different states and has been on over 60 rivers. He's also racked up some impressive wins in his kayaking career:

- 1st place in Carnage Category, 2007 Wavesport Open WV
- 3rd place in BoaterX at Lost Paddle, 2007 Wavesport Open WV
- 2nd place 2007 Friday Night Fun Series Freestyle Competition, Adventure Sports Center International, MD
- Finalist in The Big Air Competition, 2008 Clackamas Festival OR
- 2nd place 2008 Upper Gauley Animal Race, short boat class
- 5th place in individual vertical feet in the 2009 Eddy Flower Vertical Challenge
- 2nd place with team Wet Planet in the 2009 Eddy Flower Vertical Challenge

Before turning his attention towards whitewater Lance played soccer year round and has been skiing since the age of 5. He still enjoys skiing in the winter, when he's not kayaking.

With Lance's enthusiasm, energy, and skills, he is a great addition to the Wet Planet Team! Read more about him on the Kayak Instruction Staff bio page.
