Giani Benevento

Giani started his whitewater career in New York on the Upper Hudson Gorge in 1995. He was the youngest licensed guide on the river for the next three years. He has also worked on the Sacandaga River since 1995. In 1999, he began guiding on the Lower Moose River. Giani headed to West Virginia in 2000 and has been working on the Upper and Lower Gauley ever since. He expanded his WV river repertoire in 2001 when he also began guiding the New River as well.

Giani doesn't just experience the river from a Wet Planet raft, he owns his very own raft, Mr. Blue, which he has taken on over 40 different rivers! He also has a few raft first descents in New York. Giani's professional rafting career is quite impressive!

Giani has been at Wet Planet since 2008. He commercially guides all of the rivers that Wet Planet offers. Giani also is an ACA swiftwater instructor and assists with Wet Planet's Whitewater Rescue courses. Giani is such a beneficial member of Team Wet Planet that he became a trip leader in 2009. He is Outdoor Emergency Care and CPR Certified as well.

Off river, Giani has hiked the Appalachian Trail northbound in the winter (Is he crazy or what) and we're glad he's still alive! He also holds a degree in history. When he's not hiking the AT, Giani can be found in Montana either ski patrolling on Gore Mountain or running the retail shop at Moonlight Basin in Montana.
