  White Salmon River

Want your next vacation to included action-packed rapids, white sand beaches, and deep warm swimming pools, without the distraction of phones or computers? Rafting the Lower Gorge of the Salmon River provides the perfect setting for people of all ages and abilities to experience the excitement and relaxation of the outdoors. We invite you to join us for a 4 or 5 day river adventure on the longest free-flowing river in the lower 48 states.

The Lower Gorge of the Salmon perpetually carves its way through history to expose metamorphosed volcanic and ominous granite gorges. To compliment the gorges, roomy white sand beaches are common on this 53 mile stretch of river – perfect for camping, swimming, or taking an afternoon nap. Catch a glimpse of a river otter, cougar, bear, golden eagle, or bighorn sheep in this diverse landscape. Visit river crossings used by the Nez Perce Indians in their flight from the U.S. Calvary in 1877.

Accompanying this beautiful and historically rich area is an abundance of incredible whitewater! On this trip, you will have a chance to experience the power of the Salmon River in rapids such as Snowhole, China Slide, Sluicebox, and Demon’s Drop. For whitewater enthusiasts eager to hone their own whitewater skills, the friendly pool-drop nature of the river (rapids are followed by stretches of calm pools) provides plenty of opportunities for rafters to challenge their own river skills. In fact, we encourage our guests to try their hand at the oars in a raft, or paddling solo in a duckie or kayak. Whatever your preference, whitewater action or stunning scenery and natural history, the pool-drop nature of the Salmon River as it winds its way through the canyons provides a great combination of action and relaxation.

For many of our guests, the time spent at camp is as enjoyable as the time spent floating on the river. After an exciting day on the river, our guides will cook you a healthy and delicious meal while you relax at the river’s edge on warm sand beaches. In the evening, campfires (weather permitting), songs, and stories will carry you to a fulfilling night’s sleep.

Come join Wet Planet on Idaho’s most popular river. Learn how to raft, kayak, or just soak up some sun on this 4 or 5 day river adventure. All river gear, camping equipment, and meals included.
