This is the 9th year for the whitewater symposium, hosted in every corner of the US. The symposium has played an important role in promoting the health of the sport by raising tricky issues of equipment, audience, teaching, and marketing for whitewater. The resulting discussions have helped companies produce better boats, helped clubs introduce more people to paddling, and helped every whitewater leader put a positive face on whitewater sport.

Promoting the Spirit of Whitewater

This fall the 9th annual Whitewater Symposium, a gathering of whitewater leaders from across the nation for the purpose of advancing the sport, will come to the White Salmon River for the first time.

Wet Planet proudly hosts this three day event that unites paddling professionals, instructors, retailers, manufacturers and program leaders for a grand "meeting of the minds." Key presentations and open-forum discussions will help to generate fresh ideas to help the whitewater paddling industry continue to reach more people through promoting paddling opportunities, quality instruction, state of the art equipment, and a positive media image of the sport. The event also includes on-water clinics that allow critical issues, cutting-edge practices, and visions for the future to be explored and shared by all.

"All the key people are there with the purpose of identifying where we can grow," says Wet Planet owner Jaco Klinkenberg. "The group comes together, discussing and practicing and having fun, but most importantly they walk away with solutions. It is an honor to contribute and play a role in that process. Whitewater is how we live our lives and we want to stand up and take initiative to support the industry."
