I can't say enough good things about the two-day class I took with Heather Herbeck from Wet Planet. I signed up for an all girls paddle weekend ... I highly recommend a course with Heather because she knows her stuff. She is professional, courteous, an over all great kayaker and instructor. Whatever you want to learn, she can teach ... I also need to mention Wet Planet as well. They have a pool to practice and fine-tune your roll, change rooms, shuttle, gift shop, espresso bar, snacks, and photos. Get out on the river with other women!

In a testosterone dominant sport, such as whitewater kayaking, we tend to forget our feminine side. We hear people yell out, "Paddle harder", "Be aggressive" and "Suck it up!" It's easy to get lost in the fist pumps and high fives, finding ourselves in an environment that can actually hinder achieving our kayaking goals.

At Wet Planet, we believe that kayaking is not gender specific. Males and females can  ALL paddle at every level of whitewater. However, we do also understand that males and females tend to receive and learn information differently. This is where we can help. Wet Planet instructor Heather Herbeck has taught women specific courses for over 6 years, sharing her approach with others at whitewater expo's throughout the Northwest and Midwest. According to Heather, "Every woman wants to feel successful . . . this environment brings women together to share, support, challenge and laugh! Best of all . . . we leave our ego's at the put-in!
