Imagine increasing your technical kayaking skills while enjoying Oregon's iconic Rogue River for 6 days straight. This is what Wet Planet calls the ultimate "Full Immersion Kayak Instruction Vacation."

This raft-supported whitewater kayak instruction trip follows the Rogue River canyon in southern Oregon's coastal range down progressively challenging and exciting rapids, building from class I to class III as the journey moves downstream. Professional Wet Planet kayak instructors will tailor every day's instruction to individual students' goals and skill level.

With spectacular scenery, comfortable camping and gourmet meals, the Rogue River Multi-Day Kayak Instruction Course often results in rapid skill progression and increased confidence for the intermediate kayaker. The river's pool-drop style rapids and warm water offer a chance for easy recovery to catch your breath (or your paddle).

Now combine this premier kayak instruction with one of the nation's top multi-day river destinations.

Included in the original Wild and Scenic Act of 1968, this 35 mile stretch of the white water Rogue River has been protected from development for the past 40 years.  Up to 3,500 different plant species have been counted, along with frequent wildlife spottings such as American Black Bears and River Otters.

  • Your kayak will float over salmon swimming upstream to spawn.
  • Your camp will be nestled into the one of the most diverse conifer forest regions in the world.
  • Your skies will be streaked with circling Bald Eagles, Ospreys and Great Blue Herons.

First inhabited by the Native Americans, settlers and gold miners followed, naming the canyon after the "rogue" tribes that lived in the canyon into the 1850's.  Today, the Rogue River remains wild, appearing in American history literature by local author Zane Grey.  This famous western novelist once lived in a small cabin along the river, now a national historic place, writing classics such as Rogue River Feud and Tales of Fresh Water Fishing.  Teeming in history, the Rogue River tells a story amidst the world-class whitewater rafting.

Itinerary

Eventually progressing to class III rapids, the Rogue River begins with whitewater perfect for practicing skills and refining technique.

Warming up on day 1, your instructor will review basic whitewater kayaking techniques as you prepare for the journey down the Rogue River.

Loading your personal gear into rafts on day 2, you'll head downstream through the Rogue's Wild and Scenic section. Your expert coaches will help to increase your skills and confidence, briefing the group before challenging rapids. Plenty of time will remain to surf and play in the Rogue's easier rapids. Using a sunny beach or a small side canyon, your group will stop for a delicious lunch prepared by your guides.

Following an afternoon of more kayaking, the trip will pull into a personal river-side camp with plenty of time to relax, read, take a hike or even work on that roll! Your guides and instructors transform into gourmet chefs, preparing a sumptuous fest with appetizers and dessert. Finally, the canopy of stars and towering canyon walls help you drift into a blissful night of sleep.

Days 3-6 follow a similar routine, varying depending on side-hikes and campsites. Mornings begin with coffee and a full, hot breakfast. While guides pack up camp and rig the rafts, your mornings will not be rushed, leaving you more time to take in the spectacular scenery and complete mutli-day river experience. As you suit up for another amazing day of whitewater kayak instruction, your guides will go over the day's agenda with you.

Days begin to run into each other, as you find yourself increasingly amazed with great whitewater, beautiful campsites and delicious meals.
