Meet the Wet Planet staff: Heather Herbeck

WP: How many seasons have you been a raft guide at Wet Planet?

HH: This will be my 4th season as a raft guide at WP. Andy Round was
WP's "scout" in 2005. He saw me kayak on the river all the time and one
day, 'out of the blue', he asked me if I'd ever want to guide for Wet
Planet . . . here I am!

WP: What are all your responsibilities at the planet?

HH: Raft guide, Lead Kayak Instructor, I organize WP's women's and
kid's kayak programs and organize WP's social networking/marketing. I
can hardly call this stuff work . . . I LOVE it!

WP: What have you been up too all winter?

HH: During the off-season, I put on my leotard, tights and headband and
teach a few more group exercise classes at the local gym, as well as
add a few more clients to my personal training profession.

Hmmmm, there's actually tons of stuff I do . . . my winter's are my
'planning' time . . . guess you'll just have to wait and see what I've
planned!

Oh yeah, my husband and I are also working on filming a documentary, "31 Days of Living" this coming May . . .

WP: When are you going to be coming back to start season 2009?

HH: I never left! I'm here, I'll always be here . . . so, you'd better like it! Haha!

WP: What river trip at Wet Planet are you looking forward to the most in this upcoming season?

HH: I'm looking forward to all the women's kayaking courses we have
planned and also for the Lower Salmon in Idaho. Last year that trip was
amazing and some of the guests are returning . . . it's going to be F -
U - N . . . fun!

WP: What was one of your favorite memories from last season?

HH: Our kids clinic . . . it was the most exhausting week I have ever
had teaching kayaking, yet to see 9 year olds progress in ways you
wouldn't think imaginable, was amazing. Not only to see the smiles on
the faces of the kids, but to see their parents with the proud smiles .
. . awesome! Can't wait for this year.

WP: What is one interesting factoid about yourself that WP doesn't know yet?

HH: I was a ballerina for 10 years and performed with the Oakland
Ballent Company. I was also in the Ms. Minnesota pageant in 1993 . . .
now I just huck myself off of big drops!

WP: Cool. Thanks for taking time and catching up with us.

Heather loves smiles, so throw out a big "hello" and smile when you see
Heather at WP this summer. She is the one wearing pink . . .
