The Wet Planet Rafting and Kayaking Newsletter!

Hello Rafters, Kayakers, and Group and Event Organizers,

In this month's newsletter:

Above Average Snow Pack Equals Excellent Rafting:  We’re getting ready for an incredible whitewater season; our current snow pack is at 120% of average, which means we currently have more snow in the mountains than we have seen for years.  This is great news for rafters and kayakers, because the spring snow-melt rivers will have lots of water.  The Klickitat River – Wet Planet’s full-day class III+ wilderness adventure – should have higher water levels than we have seen for at least 5 years.  The Klickitat just gets more and more fun as the water levels rise, so this is the season to get on the Klickitat!  We are also anticipating great seasons on the Wind River & the Farmlands section of the White Salmon River.  We hope to be running these two intense class IV-V rafting trips well into June.

Spring Special:  High Water Klickitat trips in April:  (return to top) Make a reservation for 6 or more people for a Klickitat River trip in April, and one of you rafts for free!  Book your trip now to take advantage of this special offer and experience the best water levels we have seen on the Klickitat River in years.  Just mention this special when you call 800-306-1673 for reservations.

Wet Planet Frequent Floater program: (return to top) We love our loyal Wet Planet floaters! To show our appreciation we have created a discount program. For every trip you float, you receive Frequent Floater Miles towards your next trip, a free souvenir or a free espresso drink in our shop on your next visit.  For more information, check out the Frequent Floater Program description on our web site.

Professional Training at Wet Planet

Swiftwater Rescue Training – Rescue3 WRT: (return to top) For river professionals, private river users, fire fighters and search & rescue folks, Wet Planet offers river rescue training designed by paddlers for paddlers. This three day course (June 2, 3, and 4th) incorporates both classroom lessons and on-river experiential education to provide students with basic river rescue skills.  This course is the Rescue3 WRT course, and students receive certification from Rescue3.  For more information, click here.

First Annual White Salmon River Fest & Headwaters Institute Seminar:  Wet Planet is hosting & organizing the First Annual White Salmon River Fest, on Wednesday June 7th and Thursday June 8th.  The first day of the event is the Headwaters Institute Seminar, which features a series of educational workshops focusing on issues surrounding the upcoming removal of Condit Dam on the White Salmon River.  The second day of the event is the White Salmon River Clean-Up.  This event is organized for the entire White Salmon River community, from guides to residents, as well as anyone else interested in the White Salmon water-shed.  This is a non-profit event and all funds raised will go towards the White Salmon River Fest & Headwaters Institute Fund.  If you are interested in participating or helping to support the event, please contact Jaco Klinkenberg at Wet Planet. Any and all support is welcomed!

Thank you all very much for your continued support and for giving us an excuse to be out on the river every day,
