The Pacific
Northwest is full of beautiful, unique creeks that are just waiting
to be explored. If you have ever had the desire to go "creeking",
or are just hoping to improve your river running skills, now is
the chance!
A clinic for women by women, this one-day course is designed specifically
for the intermediate female paddler ready to "step it up"
in a creeking environment that is supportive and fun. If you have
found yourself paddling with "the guys" and feeling pressured
and stressed to run drops you don't necessarily want to run, yet
you want to reach the next level, then this clinic is for you. We
will take advantage of the abundant water in the Columbia River
Gorge, to focus on kayaking skills such as tight eddy turns, boofing,
scouting, technical paddling maneuvers, and setting up "safety"
for your paddling partners.
The course is led by Wet Planet instructor and Team Jackson paddler
Heather
Herbeck. Get out on the water with Heather, and enjoy the opportunity
to improve your river running skills while enjoying some of her
favorite backyard runs.
"I strongly believe that women learn differently then
men and can progress quicker in an environment that feels 'safe',
stresses the importance of having fun and takes the time to analyze
each "drop" before and after you paddle it. Successfull
paddling has to do a lot with self-confidence. Not only will we
work on creeking skills in this clinic, but we will work on skills
that will increase your self-confidence on and off of the river
so that you will make wise decisions about your own paddling."
